In the interim of working on another lengthy post, I didn’t want this blog running totally silent for the week. So, I post for you non-locals a little news of DC tradition. The announcement for the finalists of the 4th annual Peep Show Contest!
No… not THAT Peep Show!
That one, neither…
I’m talking about the Contest that encourages you to play with your food and pick themes (local and current is not a requirement) that incorporates Peeps in some manner, obviously. Needless to say, there’s plenty of White House and Snowpacalypse-themed selections, but kudos to the ones that pay homage to the Chinese Terra Cotta Soldiers, Cubism, Georgia O’Keefe, Norman Rockwell’s memorable self-portrait, the Tsar Nicholas (as a Faberge egg), and even last year’s viral video of the JK Wedding Dance. Normally, they display the winning selections at the mash art show, Art-o-Matic, another DC tradition, and on the tables, you’ll sometimes find little cards that ask browsing visitors not to eat the art. I think that violates the integrity of the art right there! Although, I can see the problem of other people not being able to see the creation before their eating, and you know, probably ingesting something toxic or germy from marshmallowy corny syrup critters that have been incorporated into a diorama.
I’m rambling… more words to come. Lots of them!
