Unless you follow an alternative calendar, then we will be bidding adieu to another year tomorrow. Goodbye 2010. Hello 2011. The whole end-of-November-to-January transition just seems to last forever. Like a really long going away party, exhausting and wallet-robbing as it may be. That’s at least how it feels to me, though I love it. Everyone is running around with friends before everyone leaves town to run around with family and other friends. And then coming back to do just a little bit more of that. All up until New Year’s Day, really, when it seems like the tide has finally quelled. 2011 is waved in rather subtly by comparison, but even it will get it’s own going away party.
Of course, no send-off is complete without a montage. And so, I link here Harvey Danger’s cover of the English Beat’s “Save it for Later,” which was done for one of my favorite New Year’s-themed movies: 200 Cigarettes.
Apologies in advance for all the stupid pre-video ads.
