The blog has apparently gotten another facelift. I wanted to do something with that header photo once I saw it in the Flickr Creative Commons pool. It’s a great shot of the Stahl House located out in the Hollywood Hills. The house was built in 1959 and designed by the famous American architect Peter Koenig. It’s named for his client, Buck Stahl, but it’s also known as Case Study House #22, because at the time, it epitomized modern architecture in California. It’s privately owned (by Mark Stahl who may be Buck’s son), but they do host tours (for a whopping $30 bucks!) and allow visitors to use it for various gatherings and commercial use. It’d be a rad place for a wedding or something like that, but I’m sure it costs a fortune to rent out. All of the shots of the house look the same, so I’m not sure if X-Ray Delta (who is credited with the shot on Flickr) actually took the photo or simply put it in the photo pool. Still, it’s a great shot, very California Dreaming.
You’ve probably noticed the blog has a new name, too. The previous title, “Blah Blah Blog” accurately captured the substance of the content found here, but I was hoping to break with association from the Bob Loblaw Blog joke from Arrested Development, and if you don’t know what I’m talking about, you’re depriving yourself of one of the best written television comedies in American history. Anyways, Mileage seemed fitting for a blog that is now a consolidation of all other blogs. Because really, who can keep up with all that? I can’t. I haven’t. Hopefully, this makes things easier.
Stay tuned to see what happens next! In the meantime, young doctors in love Ali and Mark teamed up with a fellow resident in their program at Johns Hopkins to write the Intern Experience Blog. (I would think that the top ranked hospital in the country would pay it’s residents better than slightly-higher-than-minimum wage if it was going to require them to work 100 + hours a week!)
