Day #117: Here We Go Magic – “Collector”
Phil recently suggested that we try our hand at a little enterprising. I knew there had to be a reason he was watching so many episodes of American Pickers, lately. But, unlike Mike Wolf and Frank Fritz, we’re not antiquers. I don’t know what our thing would be. Just so long as it doesn’t get out of control like those people on the show who have extra acres of property just to store all their junk. (Yes junk, even if it is collectible junk).
Scanning collectibles on Craigslist, I ran across this post from Gaithersburg, MD:
“40 Years of Playboy Magazine – lot – $1000”
My grandfather passed away about 10 years ago and left me about 40 years worth of Playboy magazines. The earliest is about 1963 and the latest 2002. They’re in really good condition, many still have their original plastic and or brown paper covers. A few, maybe half a dozen of the newer ones, were destroyed in an accident with a leaky storage area so it’s not a complete set but pretty close as far as I can tell. I’m asking $1000, 00 since it’s just a little more than $2 an issue. I’m tired of storing and moving them. I’m confident that someone who’s willing to put the time into sorting, categorizing and selling individually can make more than this, though I make no guarantees. Buyer must pick them up, but I’ll throw in the calendars that came with the subscription too.
Here’s the accompanying photo. I wonder how many people are going to respond, asking how much the seller wants for that chimp in the bathrobe.
