Day #214: The Gun Club – “Mother of Earth”
Phil showed me an article the other day about a middle-aged married couple who had a plan to travel the world for several years. The wife was a consultant, and the husband was some kind of manager at IBM. They figured out how much it would cost, saved up, sold their stuff, and left on an eternal world tour. They somehow continue to draw income in the meantime from sales from an online store.
They’re not the first to do this, and in fact, there’s a couple who’s been doing it for 27 years. Their trusty stead, a 1982 Land Cruiser, landed a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records for clocking more than 400,000 miles in the process. The hyperactive kid in me would be all giddy for that. The life of the happily unwashed global backpacker. But, the responsible adult in me wonders what kind of retirement plan these guys have.
The hyperactive kid in me would probably kick the responsible adult in me in the shin if she heard that.
